Story-Driven and Story-Driving Environments
Storytelling through Environment Art in Games, Movies, and everything in-between.
In this talk Mauro will analyze the different layers that build effective storytelling by means of environment design, with the different approaches of games and movies.
It will feature some exclusive behind the scenes from the latest Unity realtime demo The Heretic* as a case study of an hybrid product (a movie made with game technologies) that strongly ties with the way realtime is getting its way in movies through virtual production, but also the way cinematic storytelling is heavily affecting the way videogames are conceived.
We’ll look into the challenge of creating powerful environments that can tell a story, not only when the camera is in the hand of the director, but also when it gets passed to the audience’s hands.
